World Haemochromatosis Awareness Week 2024

World Haemochromatosis Awareness Week takes place from this Saturday, 1st June to the 7th June 2024. Our mision is to promote early diagnosis of haemochromatosis. 1 in 5 of us are carriers of the gene and 1 in 83 people in Ireland are predisposed to develop haemochromatosis.

Nominate us to win in AIB Community Fund

Nominate us to win up to €28,000 in AIB’s Community Fund this year. Every vote will count towards helping us continue to support haemochromatosis patients and their families in Ireland. The deadline is the 12th June. Thank you!

EIC (European Iron Conference) & EAFPH AGM

We were delighted to attend the European Iron Conference EIC in Toulouse to represent patients and also attend the European Federation of haemochromatosis patients (EFAPH) AGM.

Run, Walk or Jog the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon, 2nd June 2024

Run, walk or jog the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon this year on the 2nd June 2024 in Dublin. We have information packs, tshirts and resources that will help you fundraise and make such a positive impact on the work of the Irish Haemochromatosis Association.

Haemochromatosis Information Evening in Tralee

Dr. John Casey gave an excellent presentation and talk on haemochromatosis in Tralee, Co Kerry in March 2024 at the famous Rose Hotel. We were joined by Nurse Noirin Taylor and friend and volunteer with the IHA, Raphael Crowley.

Active Retirement Ireland Presentation

Huge thanks to our Voluntary Board Member, David Beggy who gave a wonderful talk and presentation on haemochromatosis to the East Meath Active Retirement Ireland Group in Julianstown. We are aiming to involve many more Active Retirement Ireland Groups around Ireland in bringing awareness talks to groups in every county.
