Tony McDevitt 50th Blood Donation!

Congratulations to Tony McDevittt, long-standing friend and volunteer with the Irish Haemochromatosis Association! Tony is proud to have made his 50th blood donation to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service and has donated much-needed blood donations over several years.

If you think you might be eligible as a haemochromatosis patient to donate blood to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service, check out the criteria for donating on www.giveblood.ie You can also call their lo call number 1800 731 137 to check if you are eligible. You can also complete the online questionnaire for haemochromatosis patients to see if you can donate. Not everyone is able to donate, but if you can, you will be giving a life-saving donation to someone else in need. Every drop counts!

Our AGM takes place this year on Saturday 24th May 2025. There will be an option to attend in-person at the IBTS building in St. James’s Hospital, James Street, Dublin or online via webinar. Teas and coffees will be available from 10.30am and the business of the AGM will start at 11am.

New GP venesection nurse training and education progamme for GP Practice Nurses in Ireland. As part of our funding from the Hospital Saturday Fund, we partnered with the Education and Training Programme team in Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon and Donegal to develop a competency-based curriculum to manage venesection treatment for patients.
