We are delighted to receive a recent Hospital Saturday Fund grant to facilitate GP venesection nurse training and education for GP Practice Nurses in Ireland. As part of our funding, we partnered with the Education and Training Programme team in Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon and Donegal to develop a competency-based curriculum to manage venesection treatment for patients.

Our aim is for this curriculum which has been approved by NMBI, to be replicated across the country. We would like to extend a sincere thanks to the wonderful education team in the NW region, including Mairead Murphy, Kathy Taffe, Charlotte Hannon, Teresa Donnelly, Lynn Stoddart, Emma Ball and venesection nurses Akhtar Arif and Margaret Dobbin for their expertise in developing this programme. Their dedication is a true example of integrated and collaborative working to improve patient care.
