BloodHIT Conference & Our work with the IBTS

The Irish Haemochromatosis Association attended BlooDHIT (the Irish Blood Transfusion Service bi-annual Conference on Blood Donation, Haematology Infection and Transfusion), where we were given opportunities to learn from national and international research and experts.

Thank you to Dr. Allison Waters and Stephanie Deane for helping to raise awareness of haemochromatosis among a wide audience. Dr. Waters and her team at the IBTS are also looking at doing publishing a paper which researched the prevalence of haemochromatosis per county. We look forward to seeing the research published in due course.

The IBTS also continue to support our annual AGM at their head offices, where they donate the use of the space to us and sponsor our annual members AGM lunch.

We would also like to extend a fond farewell to Professor Tor Hervig, outgoing Medical & Scientific Director of the IBTS, who has been a great friend of the Association and as a Norwegian, has a very keen interest in haemochromatosis. We look forward to the next BloodHIT Conference.
